A lot has been happening with Vanessa Hudgens and her beau Austin Butler this past week. First off, the High School Musical star met Butler’s mom, and the trio had lunch in Studio City, California. There’s definitely a connection between the 23 year old actress and her potential mother-in-law, as the two hugged and said a long goodbye at the end of lunch. Vanessa’s week continued with even more couple activities: she and Butler were spotted attending a midday service at Ecclesia Church in Hollywood this Sunday. Wearing a super-short yellow playsuit and wedge sandals, Vanessa assisted the 1.5 hour sermon and afterwards looked enlightened, even picking up a flower from the ground and showing it to her 20 year old boyfriend. It looks like the two actors can’t get enough of each other, as they’re been spotted yet again walking hand in hand, Vanessa trying out a more urban look of Jeffrey Campbell boots and Tom Ford sunglasses, instead of her usual boho-hippie style.

Last week Vanessa Hudgens enjoyed some retail therapy with younger sis Stella, hitting some of her favorite stores like Wasteland and Urban Outfitters. Nessa was photographed sporting some roar-worthy animal-print shorts and a pair of wedge heels, a total 180 from her usual boho style, but her clothing choices aren’t the only thing that’s changed— she recently chopped off her luscious locks. The short haircut shocked some fans, but considering it was for her role in the upcoming flick Gimme Shelter, it was all in a day’s work for this former Disney darling.

Nessa plays a pregnant teen that’s turned away by her Wall Street father, played by Brendan Frasier. She’s forced to hit the streets in order to survive because against her father’s wishes, she refuses to have an abortion. Not quite as perky as HSM, that’s for sure, but Vanessa is excited for everyone to see the film. Seen here in a pair of designer Giorgio Armani sunglasses, it’s easy to see that Vanessa’s new ‘do gives her a whole new look. Eat your heart out, Zac! Vanessa Hudgens has just unveiled a sizzling new Candie’s for Kohl’s stores ad campaign which features the 22-year-old Sucker Punch star sporting the adorable clothing collection from floral frocks to sexy lingerie. The campaign, called “Candie’s-isms,” also features rules that girls who wear Candie’s supposedly live by, such as “Candie’s girls believe you can do anything in heels” and “Candie’s girls think every aisle is a runway.” On the set, Nessa confessed that her favorite of the sayings is “Sometimes a girl needs cake for breakfast.” So true! While getting styled for her photo shoot, the actress revealed she was having a blast. “I’m just playing around,” she said. “Not to mention, I get to eat a lot of cake and lick lollipops and just be silly and have fun.” The fashionista got to try on plenty of trendy duds, too.

Speaking about her own style, Vanessa recently told People, “I’m extremely inspired by the ’60s and ’70s. I adore Bianca Jagger and Cher.” She added that she thinks a few other young stars really know how to rock the red carpet citing Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, gal pal Ashley Tisdale, and Blake Lively. “They all play with fashion and have fun with it!” Candie’s also asked fans to help choose the TV commercial for the campaign from three choices via their Facebook page. The winner will air nationally in late July while print ads will start popping up in magazines and on billboards in August. Seems hottie Vanessa Hudgens is leaving her HSM days behind her with a vengeance–including her ex Zac Efron. There’s talk that the 22-year-old actress has a new guy. Nessa reportedly looked “smitten” with The Kids Are All Right star Josh Hutcherson last week at the after-party for the premiere of her new movie, Beastly. “Their arms were wrapped around each other and they were really touchy together,” a source said. “They were very cute.” They also stepped out together at the Independent Spirit Awards over the weekend and apparently Josh stayed at her side all night. Her current film Beastly, hit theaters last week and is a retelling of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” story set in modern-day New York City. Vanessa plays, “the beauty” Lindy Taylor opposite the gorgeous Alex Pettyfer as Kyle Kingson/Hunter, “the beast.”

And how about Nessa’s new tattoo? She took a break during the recent New York Fashion week shows and came back to the runways–not with a latte–but with butterfly tattoo on the back of her neck! She hit Bang Bang Tattoos accompanied by her friend Ruby Rose, an Australian MTV VJ, and got inked up. Next, she’ll be joining the sequel to the 2008 film Journey to the Center of the Earth alongside Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson, playing Josh’s love interest. The film is set for release this year. She’s bohemian chic in Gucci aviators, peasant top, fringy bag, and some bangin’ bangs. –rpuccia

Nessa’s just been named the new Candie’s brand pitch girl. Following in the footsteps of former Candie’s alums Britney Spears and Fergie, the HSM star will be the face of the junior brand’s upcoming spring campaign. The fun campaign shot by fashion photographer Tony Duran features the actress sunning herself in a cute swimsuit and hanging out at an old-school diner. The pix will appear in magazines and on billboards starting March 2011.  She quipped: “Ever since I saw Fergie do the ads for Candie’s, I fell in love. It’s such an honor to be a Candie’s girl.” Here, she’s downright delish in  glam, candy-apple red oversized shades.   –rpuccia

Oh no, say it isn’t so. The king and queen of High School Musical, Vanessa and Zac, just announced they’re going their separate ways after four years together. The gorgeous former couple’s split was reportedly mutual and according to a source close to them, the relationship simply “ran its course,” and the pair are still close friends. Vanessa,who turns 22 today, is wrapping the film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island later this week in Hawaii while Zac is currently off filming The Lucky One in New Orleans. Here, Nessa adds a little “street” to her boho chic in a pair of Ray Ban large aviators–a mainstay in her fab accessory repertoire. She may no longer be a “teen queen” at the ripe old age of 21, but High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens is still a favorite with millions of Disney Channel fans out there. In addition to starring in the overwhelmingly popular Disney trilogy, she’s been in several other big-screen movies and released two studio albums.

She recently tackled the difficult role of drug-addicted exotic dancer Mimi in a stage production of RENT directed by Neil Patrick Harris, and boyfriend Zac Efron was in the sold-out audience. Zac is one lucky guy and Vanessa is one talented babe, that’s for sure!
