2013 CMT Awards Red Carpet & Winners

Starting off from the purple carpet replacing the red one, the show was full of surprises.

The 2013 CMT Awards were all the rage in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night. With special guests like Lenny Kravitz and Nelly, the awards were what one would call a great success. Starting off from the purple carpet replacing the red one, the show was full of surprises – some fashionable, and some just heart-felt.

In the heart-felt category, it’s hard not to mention Carrie Underwood‘s performance, who dedicated her song, See You Again, to the victims of the tornados in Oklahoma, her native state. It was very emotional, with visuals from the recent catastrophe as a backdrop, and especially when considering that the country singer donated $1 million from her latest tour to the American Red Cross, in aid of the tornado victims.

At the CMT Awards, Underwood got Video of the Year (for Blown Away), for the second year in a row, and for the fourth time in the history of the awards. Another big winner was Miranda Lambert as Female Video of the Year and Performance Video of the Year. The Over You singer got another award, in the form of a kiss from Lenny Kravitz, which she mentioned during her acceptance speech. Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum and Blake Shelton all won awards during the evening.

When it comes to fashion, the guests turned out to be more stylish than one would expect from a country event. But with people like Taylor Swift around, the bar was raised. The Everything Has Changed singer wore a high-low Elie Saab dress, strapless and embellished, with Jimmy Choo lace peep toes and Neil Lane jewelry. Nicole Kidman accompanied her country-singing husband, Keith Urban, wearing an understated little black dress by Christian Dior with white heels by the same designer – and they looked perfectly paired. We also loved the cute AnnaSophia Robb in a Georges Chakra Couture backless dress and nude B Brian Atwood shoes with sparkly ankle straps. Many were amazed by Sheryl Crow‘s stylish appearance, in a Willow dress and golden platform sandals by Saint Laurent. Which one was your favorite?

AnnaSophia Robb looks cute in her denim cutoffs, Ray Ban sunglasses, flower crown and neon laces shoes, as she strikes a pose at Coachella. Playing the iconic Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, Robb admitted that the role made her care more about fashion. Her favorite trend of the season? “Big platforms…I’m short I’m tired of having my foot arched in heels. I gotta give my feet a break,” the petite actress says. “In my audition, we were talking about prom and they asked me if I could dance. I was just messing around and started doing the chicken dance as one of my moves for some reason. I guess they liked that I could be myself because Carrie is not afraid to be who she is. So I got the role for being my goofy self!” she said about landing the part of a lifetime.

AnnaSophia Robb, Chloe Bridges and a friend are having loads of fun at Coachella, with all three girls rocking festival fashion. Robb is actually wearing a printed playsuit with sandals and Converse sunglasses, while blowing a kiss to the camera. In an interview for Seventeen Magazine, 19 year old Robb said that she deferred admission to Standford to star in The Carrie Diaries, but only after giving it much thought and praying. And now, she gets to kiss Austin Butler on screen: “One of the biggest challenges for us is to be sexy and flirty on camera because we just can’t take each other seriously any more—kissing on camera isn’t that fun! But he’s so cute! He talks about Vanessa [Hudgens] all the time. They’re crazy in love! I don’t think I’m ready to be that in love. They put so much time into their relationship, and I’m too selfish right now.”

AnnaSophia Robb still shops at Forever21, despite her new status as a fashion icon! Wearing a red sweatshirt, skinny jeans, biker boots, a winter coat, cat eye sunglasses and a ponytail, Robb sips on her Starbucks coffee while doing some shopping. The young actress plays Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, a new show that just premiered this week on the CW with mixed reviews. However, the original Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker, approves of the prequel: “[Sarah Jessica Parker] sent me a very lovely note just kind of giving me her blessing and encouraging me and telling me how excited she was and how dear the part was to her, and so that was huge for me because, you know, I was obviously nervous,” AnnaSophia mentioned. “I was, like, ‘Is this okay?’ And so it just meant a lot to be able to have her blessing.” The Carrie Diaries begins in 1984, with Robb’s character having lost her mother recently, and starting an internship in Manhattan.

In a long, puffy coat, boots and D&G aviators, AnnaSophia Robb could be mistaken for any other girl her age. The Carrie Diaries actress – the new prequel to Sex & The City, which is to premiere on January 14th – covered Teen Vogue’s February edition. This gave us a chance to learn more about the 19 year old, like for example that she feels at home in New York: “I think I was made to live in New York. I love it. I love being able to walk everywhere. And there’s so much going on—I actually get a little nervous on the weekends, wondering what to do and who to hang out with. When I used to watch Gossip Girl or Sex and the City, I thought the things that happened were totally exaggerated. But then I got here and realized they’re not. That’s what it’s really like!” She also mentions that she initially didn’t want to take on TV roles, so she avoided Disney and Nickelodeon during her teens. However, being Carrie is something she couldn’t say no to – and we hope it will be her big hit!
