Sunglasses Trends: Turn on the Brights

Getting lost behind stand-by black shades is so yesterday. Now it’s all about eye-poppin’ electric-bold color. And everyone can use a shot of pizzaz in their closet, right? The key this season is to avoid the juvenile, novelty-shaped (e.g. stars and slats), solid fluorescent styles ala 1980. Instead go for the richness of vintage cat-eyes or statement-making oversized glam styles in transparent, see-through brights that give a softer, more sophisticated hit of color. Don’t think you can rock the brights? Don’t fret–from gorgeous sheer ocean-inspired aquas and rosey pinks to translucent canary yellows and sumptuous oranges, anyone can wear these delish hues. Just take queues from celebs like Katy Perry, Nicole Richie, and Paris Hilton who show that colorful can definitely be chic anytime, anywhere.  –rpuccia

Kate Hudson in Persol Sunglasses

Kate Hudson has already been playing mom to two sons for a few weeks now! Thirty-two year old Kate, who has a seven year old son, Ryder, from her marriage to rocker ex Chris Robinson, welcomed her new son Bingham Hawn Bellamy into the world earlier this month. Little Bing’s daddy is Kate’s 33-year old fiancé Matt Bellamy, front man of the British band Muse. (Guess Kate’s got a thing for musicians, huh?)

It seems like most celebs enjoy giving their children unique (cough, cough) names, but there is a sweet story behind Bing’s moniker—Bingham is Matt’s mother’s maiden name, and Bing was also Kate’s pseudo-stepfather Kurt Russell’s father’s name. The baby’s middle name, Hawn, is obviously a tribute to Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn—Kurt Russell’s partner of nearly thirty years.

Bethenny Frankel in Ray Ban Sunglasses

Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is continuing her quest for world domination with an upcoming skincare line for Wal-Mart, called Honesty by Bethenny. The Bravo reality diva, who famously documented her marriage to Jason Hoppy, the birth of her now one-year-old daughter, and the launch of her Skinnygirl “lo-cal spirits” biz ventures on TV for all to see, says her latest undertaking was born from her distaste of empty product marketing claims.  [Promises like] ‘You’re going to look like Heidi Klum in two days’ or ‘[Look] like you had a face-lift’ have always bothered me,” Bethenny told Womens Wear Daily. “Skincare can be confusing and I want to be straightforward.” Hence the name “Honesty.” The line will include a shimmer plumping lip gloss, detoxing face masks and a gradual tanning body shimmer — all for $15 or under–a price-point sure to please her multitude of fans who are working mothers that can’t afford to spend hundreds on the latest beauty treatments.

The new skincare line announcement comes with the ink barely dry on another new venture from Bethenny: Skinnygirl Cleanse, a detox drink that she says boosts the body and is gentle on the stomach so women can have it every single day. She says, “My fans know I’m not into gimmicks, so no one is losing 40 pounds on this. It’s made to be part of your life so you can be overall healthy.” What’s next for this power woman?  A clothing line? Perhaps baby number two? Bethenny says they’re definitely preparing for another child. “I want another girl,” she confessed. Tori Spelling in Moschino Sunglasses

It’s pretty obvious that Tori Spelling has a ton of passions–being a mother and wife, writing books, designing jewelry, cooking, throwing weddings, etc. That’s why she decided to launch her own lifestyle website, aptly named ediTORIal, where the 38-year-old reality star will share her “tips and tricks” on everything from being a working mom to throwing a great party. Although she’s got a pretty full plate–and is preggo with her third child to boot–Tori is keeping the biz ventures flowing … she just opened her L.A. boutique InvenTORI in March for cryin’ out loud! “I wanted to start an online community where women could gather and communicate, get advice, tips, and how to’s towards inspired living,” she said about starting ediTORIal. She added that she wants the site to help women lead a chic, artful, and meaningful life through style, relationships, parenting, food, entertaining, and crafting, all while still maintaining a budget. (Being the daughter of the late great TV mogul Aaron Spelling, not sure what she knows about living on a budget, but anyhoo…)

As the editor-in-chief of ediTORIal, Tori says she does have a team of writers working with her to help bring “the vision to life,” but, impressively, she is posting one to two blogs daily Monday thru Friday entirely on her own. “I find the time to do all my ventures simply because of passion. Gwen Stefani in Blingy Shield-Style Sunglasses

Style maven Gwen Stefani is bringing two of her biggest loves — kids and clothes — together in a sweet new clothing line for Target focused on babies, toddlers and tweens, called Harajuku Mini.  Gwen’s already got two designer fashion labels under her belt with L.A.M.B. (an upscale womenswear collection)  and Harajuku Lovers (a line of fragrances and accessories), but the mother of two is adding to her arsenal with this pint-sized spin-off of her Harajuku collection. And the fact that the collection will be affordably priced between $3.99 and $29.99 (yay!) is the cherry on top. Gwen indisputably dresses two of the hippest tots in Hollywood, and now her fans can score rockstar clothes for their own kids without breaking the bank.

“Harajuku Mini is a dream come true,” Gwen recently told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. Elin Nordegren in Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses

Elin Nordegren may have finally rebounded from Tiger Woods with a guy as wealthy as the world-famous golfer. Good for her! The New York Post’s Page Six reports that the Swedish beauty, 31, has been dating wealthy finance investor Jamie Dingman for several months. The duo has spent time together in Florida–where she still keeps a home with her kids Sam, 4, and Charlie, 2 so they can be close to their dad. They have also hung out together in her native Stockholm, Sweden, where they were spotted just last week. Who is this guy, you ask? Well, he’s only the son of billionaire Michael Dingman. He also briefly dated Bridget Moynahan, Tom Brady’s ex and mother of his first child Jack. The NY Post also reported that Jamie splits his time between China and the Bahamas and owns an Indy car-racing team sponsored by royal Swedish charity World Childhood Foundation. (You know they’re rich when they own a race car team.)

According to pals, he and Elin met in January of this year at a Red Cross charity ball in Florida, attended by Princess Madeleine of Sweden, a mutual friend. And we thought it would impossible for her to trade up (in bank accounts, that is). Pippa Middleton in Gucci Sunglasses

Pippa Middleton may not be as royal as her big sis Kate (oops, sorry, Kate’s going by Catherine these days… Duchess Catherine to be exact!) but she has captured our hearts nonetheless. Pippa was named the “Number One Society Singleton” by the UK’s Tatler magazine back in 2008, even beating out singer James Blunt. Since then, she’s been perceived as a socialite and received a large amount of media attention focusing on her social life and lifestyle. Her fame has escalated even more, particularly in the U.S., now that her sister has tied the knot with Prince William. These days Pippa works part-time for her parents’ company Party Pieces, where she edits the web magazine Party Times. It includes party tips, entertainment ideas, fun recipes, as well as interviews. Sounds appropriate, don’t you think?

Pippa briefly worked for a public relations firm promoting luxury products a few years ago, so it’s no wonder that the beautiful brunette knows how to appreciate gorgeous designer sunglasses. Giuliana Rancic in Christian Dior Sunglasses

It’s hard not to adore E-News host-with-the-most, Giuliana Rancic. Her quirky bluntness, approachable humor, and ability to not take herself so seriously make her infinitely engaging.  On their reality show Giuliana & Bill, she and her husband, Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, have spoken candidly about their struggle to conceive. Now she just recently divulged that they’re officially taking a hiatus from “actively trying” to have a baby. “[Having a baby is] always in the back of my mind,” she told USA Today. “But we’re not actively trying.” While the pair still want a child, they agreed it was time for a break–and to have some fun. According to Giuliana, Bill responded to the last round of disappointing baby news by saying, “You know what? Let’s get back to who we are and have a year of fun.” The couple agreed to spend time doing all the things that are tough to do with a baby, such as traveling and enjoying wine. An awesome outlook for a truly awesome couple.

Though Giuliana admitted she felt “vulnerable” sharing her struggle to have a baby with the world, she also found it rewarding. “This guy came up to me, and he was like, ‘Oh, I just want to thank you and your husband. You inspire my wife. She’s going through IVF, and we know we’re not alone,’ It’s really nice [to inspire others],” she said. Victoria Beckham in Yves Saint Laurent Sunglasses

Victoria Beckham gave birth to her first daughter last weekend, and she and hunky hubby David bestowed upon their little one a unique, but meaningful name: Harper Seven! Already a mom to sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6, Victoria gushed “we all feel so blessed, and the boys love their baby sister so much.” Born at 7:55 Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A., the Beckhams’ first daughter weighed in at 7 lbs, 10 oz. So what’s the deal with the A-list couple choosing such a unique name for their latest addition? “Harper is an old English name that [Victoria] has always liked,” a source recently told Us Weekly. And “Seven is a very spiritual lucky number. She was born in the seventh month, in the seventh hour.” The number also happens to correspond to soccer star daddy’s old jersey number when he played in England.

The 37-year-old fashion designer just can’t help but fawn over her newborn daughter tweeting just yesterday, “Baby Harper is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen. I have fallen in love all over again!” Incidentally, the Beckhams’ little girl isn’t the first Harper in Hollywood: Tiffani Thiessen and husband Brady Smith named their daughter Harper Renn last June. Emma Watson in Ray Ban Sunglasses

Emma Watson reportedly chopped off her luscious locks in favor of a pixie cut back in 2010 simply because she could—her stint as the bushy-haired Hermione Granger had come to an end. The new ‘do was met with mixed reviews, even though we think it looks absolutely darling. Her hair is already a bit longer these days, and Emma herself admitted that if she wants to keep acting, she’s got to grow  her hair out again to look appealing for more roles.

Emma is definitely a popular girl this weekend, considering that the second half of the Harry Potter grand finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, hit theaters at midnight. Emma has appeared in all eight movies that comprise the Harry Potter franchise, literally growing up on the big screen in front of millions of adoring fans. She was cast as Hermione at the tender age of nine, and her previous acting experience was school plays! Even so, this girl has proven she has what it takes to succeed in the big league.
